Guild F-112 12-string 1973
This nearly 50 year old guitar is the quintessential 12-string, with that superb mellow, full sound that featured in so much great music from that era. It’s a well-played instrument with a lot of mojo.
From the Reverb site: “Jumbo-shaped Guild 12-strings stand as some of most recognizable Guild acoustics ever made. The F-112 (also known as the Standard F-112) came out in 1968 with Mahogany back and sides and a Spruce top. As opposed to other Guild 12-strings, the F-112’s body was rounded on its lower bout. Its overall body size is also smaller than other Guilds with a Jumbo body style.”
This guitar has seen a lot of life and is far from pristine cosmetically. It has extensive finish checking on the back and sides and a couple of stabilised cracks, one on the top and one on the back (which I’ve tried to highlight in the photos). However, the guitar looked like this when I bought it 5 years ago, and it has not changed much over that time. It still looks pretty good, even with the checking.
Importantly, the guitar still plays and sounds like a dream. Its action is great, it’s easy to play, stays in tune, and the tone is excellent. If you’re looking for a great-playing 12 string with that classic sound, this guitar will not disappoint. It comes with an original Guild hard-case that has also seen a lot of life, but remains intact and functional.
