The Nord Grand is our first stage piano to feature triple sensors that track the movements on the hammers rather than the keys delivering the smooth dynamic touch of an acoustic grand.

PERFORMANCE

The Nord Grand has dedicated knobs and buttons for all essential functions required in a live performance situation. Creating Layers and Splits, adding effects or transposing the instrument can be accomplished on the fly.

Seamless Transitions

Layers andadvanced Split Points

The two sound portions may be spread across the keyboard or mixed in a layer. Specific effects, Volume Pedals, and/or Sustain Pedals may be applied to each of the sound parts.

The Split Point Crossfades allow for seamless transitions between two splitzones, and the Nord Grand includes 7 Split Points that are marked with LED lights. Choose from Small, Large, or Off as the crossfade width, which is displayed by a variable LED hue.

Resonance of Advanced Strings

When additional notes are played on our Grand and Upright piano sounds, our distinctive Advanced String Resonance simulates the complex interaction of piano strings vibrating at their fundamental or harmonic frequencies. When the pedal is depressed, it also provides the rich, resonant ambiance of a genuine piano.

Musical Piano Filters

The Piano Section has separate piano filters for Acoustic and Electric pianos enhancing softness, mid, or brightness, adding another degree of sound control. The EP filters also have one-of-a-kind Dyno filters built on the legendary preamp that produced the distinct punchy, bell-like sound that was a key component of the iconic West Coast sound throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

Dynamic Pedal Noise Nord Triple Pedal

The accompanying Nord Triple Pedal has a special Dynamic Sustain Pedal in addition to Soft and Sostenuto Pedals. Our Pedal Noise function, which dynamically mimics the mechanical noises of raising and releasing the damper mechanism, is also made possible by the Triple Pedal.

Gentle Release

A Soft Release setting simulates a looser damper tension in an acoustic or electro mechanical instrument by adding a slightly longer release that is more suited for legato playing.

There are 3 dynamic curves, ranging from Light to Heavy, to fit your playing style.

SMALL-SYNTH SAMPLE SECTION

The Nord Sample Library 3.0’s extensive collection of Strings, Brass, Synths, Choirs, and other top-notch sounds are available in the Sample Synth Section.

The iconic Mellotron and Chamberlin sounds, which were exclusively licensed, are among the wide range of sounds from the Nord Sample Library 3.0. The Nord Sound Manager allows for rapid replacement of any sounds.

The Sample Synth has dedicated Category buttons for rapid browsing and sample sound selection, as well as necessary controls for attack, decay/release, dynamics (filter/velocity), and attack. The free Nord Sample Editor program for Windows and Mac allows you to make your own samples.

RESULT SECTION

A large variety of quickly adjustable, premium stereo effects modeled like vintage stomp boxes are available in the Effect area. You may apply any effect to the Piano or Sample Synth sections anyway you like.

MONITOR INPUT

Connect your MP3 or CD player to the rear panel Nord Grand monitor input to play along, rehearse to or jam with previously recorded music without the need of an external mixer or sound system. The signal is also routed to the main outputs.

COMPATIBLE WITH NORD PIANO MONITOR

The Nord Piano Monitor speakers can be connected directly to the Nord Grand (using the optional Monitor Brackets) for the ultimate nearfield listening experience.
