Massive sonic flexibility

The Nord Stage 3 has three sound generating sections; Piano, Organ and Synthesizer, all of which can be used simultaneously. Furthermore, the Nord Stage 3 has 2 separate slots allowing you to have 2 Pianos, 2 Organs and 2 Synths plus Effects at the same time for massive sonic flexibility.

Seamless transitions

The Nord Stage 3 features automatically seamless transitions when changing sounds or programs while playing.

Song Mode

A new Song Mode lets you easily organize a group of Programs for each specific song in the list. Each song can consist of up to 5 different Programs, freely assignable from your existing Programs. You can create unique Song Lists for different bands or situations and the names and order can be easily customized on the fly without connecting it to a computer. The super clear new OLED display offers excellent overview when selecting sounds and editing programs.

Advanced Split functionality withoptional crossfade

The Nord Stage 3 also features 3 SplitZones and a new Split Point Crossfade functionality. Choose among 3 differentcrossfade widths (Small, Large or Off) indicated by different LEDcolors.

A new Split Point Editor Mode letsyou easily organize and set up Split Points using the OLED display givingyou a great overview of the assigned sound sources for eachSplit zone.

Support for Program change viapedal

The Nord Stage 3 also supports Programchange via pedal allowing for flexible program changes (up/down) while keepingyour hands on the keyboard.

Long Release

A Long Release-mode addsa slightly longer release, more suitable for legatoplaying, emulating a looser damper tension in an acoustic or anelectromechanical instrument.

Nord Triple Pedal

The Nord Triple Pedal (optionalaccessory) features our unique dynamic sustain pedal that enables the useof half-pedaling and “release and catch” techniques and alsoSustenuto and Soft Pedals. The Nord Triple Pedal also recreates the mechanicalsounds of lifting and releasing the damper mechanism, producing thecharacteristic thomp and sizzle sounds. The Pedal Noise feature respondsdynamically to the force/momentum used when pressing or releasing the sustainpedal on the Nord Triple Pedal.

The Nord Stage3 features our latest award-winning C2D Organ simulations of B3 Tonewheel andVintage Transistor Organs plus two brand new Principal Pipe Organs. Twodifferent Organ models can be used simultaneously and the updated vintage 122Rotary Speaker simulation is also available for each slot independently.

The Nord Stage 3 Organ sectionfeatures our award winning Nord C2D organ including the extremelyauthentic B3 Tonewheel simulation with four different tone wheelsettings, ranging from factory new clean to leaky old vintage.

VintageRotary Speaker

The Nord Stage 3 features the latestgeneration of our vintage 122 Rotary Speakersimulation adding an essential character to a live organperformance and features Slow, Fast and Stop mode as well as a Drivecontrol. SYNTH SECTION

The Nord Stage3 Synth section features the acclaimed Nord Lead A1 Synth Engine combined withSample Playback and a brilliant OLED display for all Oscillator functions.

PowerfulSmart Oscillator

The Lead A1 Synth Engine is renowned forits analog-modelling warmth, and utilises brilliant Smart OscillatorConfigurations to deliver stunning results with little programming. There areboth Single oscillator setups including Pitch and Shape modes, and Dualoscillator setups including Detune, Sync, Waveform, Bell and Noise Mix modes, FMand Ring Mod. The Synth section also provides 3 Unison modes, withoutreducing voice polyphony.

The Nord Stage 3’s new Oscillatorsection features 5 oscillator categories: Classic, Wave, Formant, Sampleand brand new Super Wave (S-wave).

OSCILLATOR CONFIGURATIONS

The Oscillator Configuration conceptallows for extremely quick and flexible programming, suitable for both advancedsynth nerds and and less experienced sound creators.

Start with a single Oscillator waveform,select an Oscillator Configuration, and use the secondary Oscillator Control toadjust the amount of desired parameter (pitch/shape/FM-modulation etc).

These are the Oscillator Configurationsavailable when using Classic, Wave or Formant oscillator types:

Pitch

Allows for adjusting the pitch ofthe main oscillator.

Detune*

Adds a second oscillator which can bepitched separately from the main oscillator.

Shape*

Allows for shapingClassic waveforms using a traditional waveshaping method. Waveformsfrom the Wave and Formant categories are shaped using a spectral shapingprocess.

Sync*

Emulates Hard sync by adding anadditional oscillator that is the sync reference.

Waveform Mix (Dual Oscillator)

Adds a second oscillator, providing aSine, Triangle, Square or Saw wave. The pitch of the second oscillator canbe adjusted separately.

Bell Mix

Adds a dedicated “Bell”oscillator, which uses a special FM algorithm to create a goodfoundation for bell type sounds.

Noise Mix

Adds a White Noise element which can bemixed with the main oscillator.

Noise Mix 2

Adds a filtered and slightly resonantNoise element to the main oscillator.

Freq Mod 2 (FM)*

The main oscillator is frequencymodulated by a second sine wave oscillator with several pitch offsetsfor the second oscillator (-12 to +48 semitones).

Freq Mod 3 (FM)*

The main oscillator is modulated by acombination of two additional oscillators with several pitch offsets to choosefrom (-12 to +48 semitones).

Ring Modulation

In this mode the main oscillatorwaveform is multiplied with a sine wave of selectable relative pitch,for classic Ring Modulation sounds.

Sample Playback

The Nord Stage 3 Synth section comes with a fantastic collection of samples from our brand-new Nord Sample Library 3.0 and excellent sample playback features. Inside the Lead A1 Synth Engine, all samples may be artistically altered, and you can even make your own samples using the NordSample Editor.

Adaptable Filters

The Synth section has six different filter types, including the traditional transistor ladder filter (LP M), low pass filters for 12 and 24 dB and a powerful new combined low pass and band pass (LP+BP) filter. Additionally, the Filter section has a distinct Filter Drive with three quantity settings and three different keyboard tracking options (1/3, 2/3, and full).

LFO that can be synced with an arpeggiator

The Arpeggiator and LFO in the Synth section may be easily synchronized to the Stage 3 Master Clock for seamless synchronization with all other Stage 3 components, including its effects.

RESULT SECTION

A brand-new Filter Effect, more morphable parameters, an improved Delay effect, and a separate Reverb and Compressor for each slot are all included in the Nord Stage 3 Effect section.

Each slot in the effective Effect section has access to a broad variety of quickly adjustable, high-quality effects that are all based on vintage stomp boxes.

Impact 1

Tremolo, two Wahs, an Auto-Wah, and an AutoPan are the options available here. Use an Electric Piano on AutoPan to create a psychedelic atmosphere, a Clavinet with the AutoWah for raw funklicks, or the Tremolo to give a Wurlitzer some body. Additionally, there is a Ring Modulator on board, an effect that is popular among electronic and experimental artists.

Impact 2

The two Phasers, two Choruses, the Flanger, and the Vibe effect are replicas of the traditional analog stomp boxes that helped establish popular music’s sound. The Nord Stage 3 crystallizes and perfectly simulates the whirling Phasers, metallic Flangers, and thick Choruses employed by demanding experts worldwide.

Filter/EQ/Simulate Amp

includes realistic models of the JC, Twin, and Small speakers with configurable Drive, as well as a separate TubeDrive simulation. Another feature in this part is a 3-band Equalizer with sweepable middle. The new Filter (LP24/HP24), with parameters for Cut-off and Resonance that apply to the whole chosen sound source, is a potent addition (Organ,Piano or Synth).

Delay

The improved delay effect has morphable settings for Tap Tempo, Ping-Pong mode, and Feedback as well as controls for Mix (Dry/Wet) and Mix (Feedback). Three feedback filters (HP/LP/BP) and a specific control for activating the Analogmode are new features.

Compressor

The Compressor, which is unique for each Slot and also includes a new Fast setting, aids in keeping the overall mix tight and under control.

Reverb

The Nord Stage 3 has six distinct reverb kinds (Hall 1+2, Stage 1+2, and Room 1+2) that you can use to give your sounds some ambiance, and the volume can now be changed. The Reverb effect now has a new Bright mode and is different for each Slot.

PRIMARY CLOCK

It is simple to sync effects to other components, such as the arpeggiator, LFO, or even one of the other effects, thanks to the Master Clock feature. Make the delay play quarter note triplets of the arpeggiator’s playing while the LFO softly sweeps the filter up and down in half notes, all flawlessly interlocked, and you may quickly lock the effect rate to a range of notevalues. An external MIDI clock may also control the Master Clock, which makes it ideal for tempo adjustments while synchronizing your parts to a backing track.

OUTSIDE SECTION

If the Nord Stage 3 couldn’t easily operate outside devices, it wouldn’t be a masterkeyboard. To enable smooth integration of any MIDI-connected equipment with the built-in instruments of the Nord Stage 3, the Extern section was specifically created for this use. The external equipment is handled just as if it were a component of Stage 3 itself in terms of zones, splits, and layers. Advanced configurations may be instantly retrieved in real-time while a performance is taking place since all parameters are kept together with a program. You may also utilize the Extern Section to have your external units automatically receive Bank Select and Program Change alerts.

HammerAction (HA) (HA)

Our top-of-the-line fully weighted hammer action pianokeys are used in the Nord Stage 3 88 keybed. Ideal for creating electric and acoustic piano sounds, but also excellent for playing the organ. A-C key range

Action Hammer Portable (HP)

The Nord Stage 3 HP76 keybed features very lightweight weighted hammer action piano keys to keep the overall weight of the instrument to only 12,4 kg (27,3 lbs). Key range E through G

Semi-Heavy Waterfall (SW)

The semi-weighted organ keys on the Nord Stage3 Compact keybed have a rounded “waterfall” tip and are excellent for quick organ shredding and synthesizer licks, but they also work well with piano tones. E-E key range.

ControlPedals

The following pedals are compatible with the Nord Stage 3: Fatar, Yamaha FC7, Roland EV-7, Roland EV-5, Korg EXP2, and Korg XVP10.

Pedal for ProgramChange

Program switching (Up/Down) is supported on the Nord Stage 3 by use of momentary two-button pedals like the Boss FS-6 and Boss FS-7.
