Discrete sounds

Although the Nord Piano Library is well represented in the Nord Stage 3 Factory Bank, you can quickly add or remove any of these sounds using the Nord Sound Manager. Our premium Nord Piano Library is continuously updated with fresh, premium sounds of the highest quality and is always free.

Extended Release

A Long Release-mode simulates a looser damper tension in an acoustic or electromechanical instrument by adding a slightly longer release that is more suited for legato playing.

Triple Nord Pedal

The Nord Triple Pedal (optional item) includes our special dynamic sustain pedal that allows for the usage of half-pedaling, “release and catch,” and Sustenuto and Soft Pedals. The thomp and sizzle noises that are produced when the damper mechanism is raised and lowered mechanically are likewise replicated by the Nord Triple Pedal. Organ Division

Sound Section

The famed Nord Lead A1 Synth Engine, Sample Playback, and a stunning OLED display for all Oscillator operations are all included in the Nord Stage 3 Synth section.

Efficacious Smart Oscillator

The Lead A1 Synth Engine, which is famous for its warmth in analog modeling and makes fantastic use of Smart Oscillator Configurations to produce spectacular results with minimum programming, is a powerhouse. Both single oscillator settings, which include the Pitch and Shape modes, and dual oscillator setups, which include the Detune, Sync, Waveform, Bell, Noise Mix, FM, and Ring Mod modes, are available. Three unison settings are also available in the Synth section without affecting vocal polyphony.

Five oscillator types are available in the new Oscillator area of the Nord Stage 3: Classic, Wave, Formant, Sample, and the brand-new Super Wave (S-wave).

Configurations of oscillators The Oscillator Configuration approach makes programming very rapid and versatile, making it suited for both seasoned synth geeks and novice sound designers. Start with a single oscillator waveform, choose an oscillator configuration, and then modify the quantity of the required parameter (pitch, shape, FM-modulation, etc.) using the secondary oscillator control.

When employing the Classic, Wave, or Formant oscillator types, the following oscillator configurations are available:

PitchAllows for changing the primary oscillator’s pitch.

Detune*Incorporates a second oscillator that can be tuned independently of the primary oscillator.

Shape*Lets you use a conventional waveshaping technique to shape Classic waveforms. Spectral shaping is used to shape waveforms from the Wave and Formant categories.

By including a second oscillator that serves as the sync reference, Sync*Emulates Hard sync.

Adds a second oscillator to create a sine, triangle, square, or saw wave using Waveform Mix (Dual Oscillator).

The second oscillator’s pitch may be changed independently.

Bell Mix has an exclusive “Bell” oscillator that employs a unique FM technique to provide a solid foundation for bell-like sounds.

White Noise may be combined with the primary oscillator when using the Noise Mix element.

The primary oscillator receives a filtered and somewhat resonant noise element from Noise Mix 2.

Freq Mod 2 (FM)*A second sine wave oscillator with multiple pitch offsets (-12 to +48 semitones) frequency modulates the primary oscillator.

Freq Mod 3 (FM)*A combination of two extra oscillators with a range of pitch offsets (-12 to +48 semitones) modulates the primary oscillator.

Modulation in rings

For the traditional Ring Modulation sounds, the primary oscillator waveform is multiplied in this mode by a sine wave with a chosen relative pitch.

Typical Playback

The Nord Stage 3 Synth section comes with a fantastic collection of samples from our new and features strong sample playback capabilities. Inside the Lead A1 Synth Engine, all samples may be artistically altered. Additionally, you can make and transfer your own samples using the Nord Sample Editor (coming soon).

Adaptable Filters

Six different filter types are available in the Synth section: a strong new combined Low Pass and Band Pass (LP+BP) Filter, a powerful new Low Pass and Band Pass (12 and 24) Filter, and a Classic Transistor Ladder Filter (LP M). Additionally, there is a specific Filter Drive with three quantity settings, as well as three different keyboard tracking options (1/3, 2/3, and full), under the Filter section.

LFO that can be synced with an arpeggiator

The Stage 3 Master Clock may be easily synchronized to the Arpeggiator and LFO in the Synth section to ensure exact synchronization with all other Stage 3 components, including its effects.

New filter effects, expanded morphable parameters, an improved delay effect, and independent reverb and compressors for each slot are all included in the Nord Stage 3 Effect section.

Each slot may choose from among a broad variety of immediately adjustable, high-quality effects that are all based on vintage stomp boxes.

Effect 1Tremolo, two Wahs, an Auto-Wah, and an AutoPan are all options here. Use an electric piano on AutoPan to create a psychedelic atmosphere, a Clavinet with the AutoWah for raw funk licks, or a Wurlitzer with the Tremolo for body. Additionally, there is a Ring Modulator on board, an effect that is popular among electronic and experimental artists.

Impact 2

The two Phasers, two Choruses, the Flanger, and a Vibe effect are based on the traditional analog stomp boxes that characterize popular music. The Nord Stage 3 perfectly reproduces the whirling Phasers, metallic Flangers, and thick Choruses utilized by demanding pros worldwide.

Filter/EQ/Simulate Amp

includes distinct Tube Drive simulation in addition to accurate JC, Twin, and Small speaker simulations with customizable Drive. Additionally, a 3-band Equalizer with sweepable mid is included in this part. The new Filter (LP24/HP24), with parameters for Cut-off and Resonance that apply to the whole chosen sound source, is a potent addition (Organ, Piano or Synth).

Delay

The improved Delay effect includes morphable settings for Tap Tempo, Ping-Pong mode, Tempo, Feedback, and Mix (Dry/Wet). Three feedback filters (HP/LP/BP) and a specific control for activating the Analog mode are new features.

Compressor

The Compressor, which is now equipped with a new Fast mode and is distinct for each Slot, aids in keeping the overall mix tight and under control.

Reverb

In order to give your sounds some atmosphere, the Nord Stage 3 offers six distinct Reverb kinds (Hall 1+2, Stage 1+2, and Room 1+2), and the quantity is now morphable. The Reverb effect now has a new Bright mode and is separated by Slot.

Primary Clock

It is simple to sync effects to other components, such as the arpeggiator, LFO, or even one of the other effects, using the Master Clock function. Make the delay play quarter note triplets of the arpeggiator’s notes, while the LFO softly sweeps the filter up and down in half notes, all flawlessly synchronized, to lock the effect rate to a range of note values. An external MIDI clock may also control the Master Clock, which makes it ideal for tempo adjustments while synchronizing your parts to a backing track.

OUTSIDE SECTION

If the Nord Stage 3 couldn’t easily operate outside devices, it wouldn’t be a master keyboard. The Nord Stage 3’s built-in instruments may be effortlessly combined with any MIDI-connected equipment thanks to the Extern section, which was specifically created for this use. Zones, splits, and layers are managed precisely as if the external equipment were a component of Stage 3 itself. All settings are kept together with a Program, allowing for the quick recall of complex configurations while performing. Even program change and bank choose messages may be automatically sent to your external units using the Extern Section.
