NEW – Buy Rickenbacker 4003S 2022 FireGlo Online. Paul McCartney and Chris Squire valued this conventional Rickenbacker bass type with dot inlays and no binding when they acquired their first 4001S versions in 1964. With its conventional appearance and rounded edges, which many feel make it more comfortable than the 4003, players like it. The enhanced twin trussrod system is included in the revised 4003S version. Of course, the resounding sustain, punchy treble, and well-known strong bass tones make it a dream. It seems sense that they have consistently received pleas to bring something back. In the 1960s, the British distributor Rose Morris had the exclusive rights to this design. The body is formed by iconic maple curves, while the fingerboard is often made of Rosewood. This 4003 stands out from the norm because to its dot inlays and lack of binding.

Paul McCartney and Chris Squire cherished this vintage Rickenbacker bass type when they acquired their first 4001S versions in 1964 and made some modifications on recent versions.

The “Ric” 4003S sounds great (of course) and is a joy to play. It lacks the edge binding of the 4003 but, IMO is easier on your arms without that sharp 90 deg. edging. It lacks the stereo output of the 4003 but I am using it for recording so I wouldn’t take advantage anyway.

I’ve played Rickenbacker basses for more than 30 years and own several but always wanted an S model. This does not disappoint; gorgeous finish, easy to play neck, classic Ric bite and sustain. You must own one once in your life (recommend buying second hand as Ric owners tend to look after their gear, and there tend to be plenty around–worth the wait to not leave 20-30% on the showroom floor, then the hold or grow in value). I dropped in a horseshoe and toaster pickup and it has a bit more tonal variation

This lighter, sleeker version of the 4003 bass is a joy to play! I love standard 4003’s and even 4001’s but the S model is in a class by itself. While some think of it as a stripped down version, it’s built for speed. All the classic characteristics are still there: the signature sound and the amazing sustain. Some believe this baby is hotter without the extra stereo wiring but I can’t really say. All I can say is the binding on standard models never bothered me but the fact that these have smoother edges makes it even harder to put down, Do yourself a favor and try one just once
